Retail Assistant Vacancy

We are looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and customer-focused Retail Assistant to work at our busy agricultural retail branch in Rhayader. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with customers, has a proactive approach to sales and takes pride in maintaining a well-presented retail environment. There will be the opportunity to gain Amtra qualifications if not already held.

This is a part-time post, Mon, Tues, Thurs & Friday from 8:15 a.m – 5:00 p.m plus every other Saturday from 8:15 a.m – 12:15 p.m.

As a key member of the branch team, you will play an important role in ensuring customers receive exceptional service while supporting the efficient day-to-day operation of the retail area.

Key Responsibilities
✅Deliver outstanding customer service and ensure customers are served promptly and professionally.
✅Assist customers with enquiries, product selection and problem resolution.
✅Promote products, services and seasonal campaigns to maximise sales opportunities.
✅Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell products.
✅Maintain high standards of merchandising and ensure displays are attractive, organised and in line with company guidelines.
✅Ensure stock is replenished, rotated and displayed appropriately.
✅Monitor stock levels and report shortages or slow-moving items to management.
✅Assist with stocktaking and inventory management activities.
✅Process customer transactions accurately, including cash and card payments.
✅Maintain a clean, tidy and welcoming retail environment.
✅Support compliance with UFAS standards and company procedures.
✅Contribute positively to the branch team and support colleagues where required.

✔Has a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.
✔ Has, or is willing to study for, Amtra SQP qualifications
✔Can identify sales opportunities and confidently recommend products to customers.
✔Takes pride in maintaining high standards within the workplace.

Skills & Experience Required:
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Ability to work effectively in a busy retail environment.
• Agricultural knowledge or experience within the agricultural industry and the ability to speak Welsh would be an advantage but are not essential.
