Farmers toasted the opening of an agricultural co-operative’s new flagship store in festive style with mulled wine and mince pies.
Clynderwen and Cardiganshire Farmers Ltd has invested over £1 million in the new store at Parc Teifi, located on the Newcastle Emlyn road out of Cardigan.
It says the new store is targeted at the farmer but it believes the range of stock will appeal to other customers too.
Farmer and shareholder Haydn George, of Llechryd, who was at the store when it first opened for business, thought the co-operative had achieved the right balance. “It seems to have everything here,’’ he said
The size of the building – 10,000 square feet - means it can carry a broader range of stock here than at its other branches.
Chairman Richard Francis, of Upton Farm, Cosheston, says the forced move from the town centre site had provided an opportunity to create a blueprint for a modern branch, one which could eventually be rolled out across the regions.
The enthusiasm of the team at the Cardigan branch, led by manageress Rhiannon Jones, had lifted the project to a new level, he added.
“It has been wonderful to see their enthusiasm; it has been a great opportunity for these people to really shine,’’ said Mr Francis. |
